Are you better off now than four years ago?

County residents are fed up and have grown weary with the current County leadership that has propagated the same failed policies and played musical chairs with the same people for 12 years with no real progress. County residents are seeing the worsening violent crime, decline in school performance, increasing debt to finance the county budget, and moribund business and job growth.

I am running for County Executive to change the trajectory of the County.

Sullivan Dominates Elrich in Pre-Election Forum

Sullivan Dominates Elrich in Pre-Election Forum

At the one and only County Executive forum, the crowd was able to see the differences between my vision for the future of Montgomery County and that of my opponent, failed County Executive Marc Elrich.

The Republican, Democrat, and Independent voters alike had a chance to hear my clear, common-sense message of increasing public safety, improving our schools, and bringing businesses back to the County. In contrast, Marc Elrich opined that the main reason that businesses are not coming to the County is lack of buses.

Really Marc?

I need your support NOW more than ever in this closing week. Please donate whatever you can, TODAY, to help me bring common sense back to Montgomery County.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Marc Elrich on Defunding the Police

Marc Elrich claims that he has not defunded the police. Yet his proposed budgets from March 2021 and the County’s final budget reflect cuts to the police budget, putting our citizens at risk, and resulting in increase in crime.

I ask for your vote to help me bring safety and common sense back to Montgomery County.

Marc Elrich on Taxes

County Executive Marc Elrich is lost.  He admits the tax structure in Montgomery, that he oversees, does not serve us as well as Virginia’s tax structure. Furthermore, he admits that he can’t plan capital projects.

We deserve better.

I ask for your vote to help me bring common sense and economic growth back to Montgomery County.

Marc Elrich and Economic Growth

In a recent County Executive forum, I spoke about ways to improve public safety, restore education in our schools, and bring jobs back to Montgomery County.

On the topic of economic growth in the County, Marc Elrich stated that he thought the biggest impediment to job growth in the County is the bus system.

We can't make this up.

I ask for your vote to help me bring common sense and economic growth back to Montgomery County.

In Memory of Dad...

From October 10, 2022

Today, my dad would have been 97 years old.
My dad, Reardon Stanley, worked his way up from a file clerk at a military base in Pennsylvania to become one of the first black Senior Executive Service (SES) members in the government. He worked in both the Nixon and Carter administrations.

When given the opportunity to come to Washington in the mid 60’s, my dad opted to move his family into an all-white neighborhood in the west end of Montgomery County, Maryland, because of the great school system. My father valued education and he instilled the importance of learning and hard work in me and in my siblings.

The mortgage lenders asked him, “… wouldn’t you feel better living with your people?” and they did not lend him the money for the house. Instead, the seller financed part of the mortgage. I remember moving day, all the neighbors were standing outside to watch us move-in. As a kid, I wondered why are all the neighbors watching us? Funny, the things that you remember as a kid.
After a while, the neighbors realized that the Sullivans were NOT as what was portrayed on the 6 pm news. Soon, my older sister had baby-sitting gigs and my older brother was cutting everyone’s grass. My father understood people and knew that if people just talked with each other many of the stereotypes that where on the nightly news would go away. People are just people. Some better. Some worse. All flawed. But he knew that everyone should be judged by their actions and the content of their character, not the color of their skin, any more than they should be judged by the political letter next to their name.

One of the defining moments of my childhood happened when I was around 10 years old. I remember coming downstairs to get a drink and my dad was studying the Janes Weapons System manual at the kitchen table. It had to be 1 am. After working all day and spending time with his children, my dad was up prepping for his job to support his family. His work ethic was amazing.
My dad was blessed with the “gift of gab.” He was an amazing writer, could spell anything, and was outstanding in math. Dad was also involved in his children’s activities and even was involved with the early Housing Opportunities Commission (HOC) in Rockville. Dad believed that God helps people who help themselves.

In his later years, my dad succumbed to Alzheimer’s disease. It was so sad to see a once-brilliant man regress into a three-minute tape loop about playing golf, eating ice cream, and McDonald’s cheeseburgers. Families with a loved one going through this disease process know what I am talking about. It is truly the long good-bye.

Reardon was a staunch Democrat. I wonder what he would think of his son being a Republican, and running for political office as the Republican candidate? What would he have thought about the political parties of today and the current stereotypes on both sides of the political aisle?
I do know that my dad believed in hard work, he wanted the best opportunities for his children, and that sometimes you have to step-up and challenge the status-quo. Dad would tell us that whatever you do, be the best that you can be, and do not let anyone tell you that you cannot do something or that you cannot win.

Happy Birthday, Dad!!!

Marc Elrich's candid response to voters

Marc Elrich is out of touch with the people of Montgomery County. Having been in County politics for so long he has forgotten what it is like to be a regular citizen, send kids to school, have a business, pay taxes, or be concerned about public safety.

Marc Elrich is the "Wizard of the Budget"

There are almost 2,000 unnamed vendors in the County budget. The total disbursed to those vendors total over $168 million. Almost 300 vendors received over $50,000; 40 of them received over $1 million in disbursements and one vendor, identified only as 1803092593, received a single disbursement of over $1 million. When questioned about who got the disbursements, we were told in writing that the vendor names are scrambled by each department and they don’t want the names disclosed. This is not acceptable. We need to know where our money is going. Examine the budget for yourself:

Can we trust Marc Elrich with our tax dollars?

Each year, Marc Elrich swept $130 million dollars from Pepco and the county energy tax into the general fund. The energy tax was put in place under the guise of a "climate emergency" Instead of raising taxes, they need to reduce spending on their special projects while maintaining essential services.

Labor Day Parades

Our team had a great time at both the Kensington and Gaithersburg parades.  Great to get out and meet so many normal, non-political people and hearing their concerns.

It was universally agreed that the voters see the stark contrast between Marc Elrich’s policies of defunding the police, deteriorating education and losing jobs, versus my policies of fully funding the police, keeping SROs in our schools and turning Montgomery County into a business-friendly destination.

I need your help to make significant changes in the County. We need new leadership, starting with the County Executive and County Council. I ask for your support.

Do you really want another four years of Marc Elrich?

I am committed to bringing common sense, cooperation, and compromise back to our local government so we can tackle the County’s most pressing issues.

Video - Do you want another four years of Marc Elrich?

We must stop disrespecting the police and allow them to do their jobs. We must provide for SROs in our schools. We must allow our teachers to excel in education, instead of pushing radical social ideas. We must bring business back to the County. We must improve transportation including 270 and the American Legion bridge.

We must get away from identity politics and archaic views based on skin color, party affiliation and gender, and get our County back using common sense for the common good.

Great interview on WTTG Fox News

Yesterday morning, the Emmy-award-winning anchor, MARISSA MITCHELL of Fox News, interviewed me about my campaign for County Executive. She was kind enough to let me discuss how can I win in a County that is so heavily Democratic.

WTTG Fox 5 Interview

I reminded her that the Democrat voters in Montgomery County are heavily divided. 60% of the voters in the Democrat primary did NOT vote for Marc Elrich. 40% of the voters in the Democrat primary supported David Blair, whose positions are similar to mine. 20% of the voters voted for Hans Riemer, and I agree with Hans Riemer on several issues including bringing 5G to the County and fixing the American Legion bridge. Even David Blair stated the Democrat party is divided and that the voting indicates the citizens in the County are looking for more moderate leadership.

I also reminded Marissa that the independent voters have not yet been heard from, and they comprise 25% of the electorate. Independents tend to break ~70% conservative, if given a viable option.

There is a very real anti-Elrich sentiment in the County that is echoed by many small business owners, restaurant owners, parents that had their children’s education stymied, and many people that thought his mandates were an overreach.

She also allowed me to discuss several key points of my campaign including public safety, education, and the local economy.

We closed the segment talking about how Montgomery County needs to get away from identity politics and not worry if someone is black, white, male, female, Republican or Democrat.  We need to elect people that will do the best job for the County.

Marc Elrich’s economic policies are not working

Marc Elrich’s economic policies are not working. Council Member Tom Hucker knows it, business owners know it, and anyone that drives to Northern Virginia knows it.

I believe that Montgomery County must do a better job at bringing new businesses to the County and supporting small business.  I need your support to make Montgomery County more business friendly.

Voters now have a clear choice for County Executive

Congratulations to Marc Elrich on his victory in the Democratic primary. I look forward to discussing public safety, education, the local economy and giving the voters a clear choice for County Executive in November.

I am committed to bringing common sense, cooperation, and compromise back to our local government so we can tackle the county’s most pressing issues.

We must stop disrespecting the police and allow them to do their jobs. We must allow our teachers to excel in education, instead of pushing radical social ideas. We must bring business back to the County.

We need to get away from identity politics, and archaic views based on skin color, party affiliation and get back to our number one status as a County.

Reardon Sullivan on WMAL - August 16, 2022

Allow me to share my latest interview with Larry O’Connor where I discuss how I will win in November.

It looks like Marc Elrich will continue to be the Democrat nominee for County Executive after the recount.

When you add the 60% of the Democrat voters that did NOT vote for Marc Elrich, and the Independent and Republican voters that are not happy with arbitrary lockdowns, mandates, out-of-control spending, disrespect for the police and lack of job growth, my campaign will be victorious in November.

During this campaign, the voters will see a stark contrast between Marc Elrich’s policies of defunding the police, deteriorating education and losing jobs, versus my policies of fully funding the police, keeping SROs in our schools and turning Montgomery County into a business-friendly destination.

I need your help to make significant changes in the County. We need new leadership, starting with the County Executive and County Council. I ask for your support.

Proud to be the Republican nominee for County Executive in Montgomery County

Very proud to be the Republican nominee for County Executive in Montgomery County.
Since the election, I have attended many events and visited the homes of many voters to hear their concerns about the trajectory of the County.

It is clear that the voters are concerned about the basic kitchen table issues of public safety, keeping SROs in schools, improving education in our schools, transportation, and bringing jobs to Montgomery County.

Many voters were not aware of the failure of the County Executive and County Council and how they are reframing their lack of results using their control of the local media. The current leadership is out of touch with the voters.

I need your help if we are going to make any real changes in the County, we need new leadership, starting with the County Executive and County Council. I ask for your support … your time, your talent and your treasure to help me make a difference in the County. Reardon Sullivan endorsed by FOP Lodge 35

I am proud to announce that I have been endorsed by the Montgomery County Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge 35 in the primary election.

Public safety is a center point of my campaign. We all know that crime is on the rise in the County. In 2020, Hans Reimer introduced legislation to take SROs out of schools. In the recent County budget, County Executive Marc Elrich and the County Council acted on their promise to “defund” the police removing almost $3 million and 63 FTEs from the budget, saying that it made the police “more efficient.”

Please ….

The time for change and new leadership is now. We need leaders that can bring common sense back to our local government. As your County Executive, I promise to do what I can to fully fund the police, have SROs in our public schools and give the men and women of law enforcement the respect they deserve.

Montgomery County Budget is NOT Sustainable

The Montgomery County operating budget is not sustainable. in FY 22, servicing our debt costs more than education, transportation or public safety. We spend 20% of every dollar raised to pay off past expenses. See: https://spending.data.montgomerycountymd.gov/#!/year/2022/explore/0-barChart/service

Hans and Will vs SROs

In 2020, at-large County council candidate Will Jawando and County executive candidate Hans Riemer wanted to remove the police SRO’s from schools, even though there were 800 reported incidents the prior year. They ignored the pleas from school principals who felt SRO's are beneficial. Now we have increased incidents in schools. Thanks Will and Hans…

Video: Hans and Will vs SROs

It is time for a change.

This election, remember that Will Jawando and County executive candidate Hans Riemer wanted to remove the police SRO’s from schools and place your children at risk.
